Terms and Conditions for Éva Hill Nutrition
Terms of Engagement & Conditions of Éva Hill Nutrition
The practice Terms of Engagement must be signed by both parties before consultations begin and a copy should be retained by both the client and the nutritional therapist. Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health and individual care. It is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and well-being. Nutritional therapists are not permitted to diagnose, or claim to treat, any medical conditions, but trained to use a wide range of functional medicine tools to assess and identify potential nutritional and biochemical imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns – allowing for personalised dietary and nutraceutical programmes to help support the body towards maintaining health.
Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical advice but work alongside allopathic medical professionals and with the permission of the client, the therapist will communicate with those involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided to ensure best possible support. The client is responsible for contacting their GP about any health concerns. If the client is receiving treatment from a medical professional they should inform them of any nutritional strategy provided by the nutritional therapist. This is necessary because of any possible contraindication between medication and the nutrition program.
The nutritional therapist must be informed about any medical diagnosis, medication, herbal medicine or food supplements being taken by the client as this may affect the nutritional program. The degree of benefit that can be obtained from Nutritional Therapy may vary between clients, depending on their health condition, genetic make-up and ability to apply and adhere to recommendations. The nutritional therapist may recommend food supplements and/or functional testing as part of the program, the cost of which is discussed at the consultation. If the client is unclear about the agreed nutritional therapy program/food supplement doses/time period the nutritional therapist should be contacted promptly for clarification.
The nutritional therapist must be contacted should the client wish to continue any specified supplement program for longer than the original, agreed period to avoid any potential adverse reactions. Standards of professional practice in Nutritional Therapy are governed by the CNHC Code of Conduct. These terms & conditions only cover the practice of Nutritional Therapy within a consultation. Éva Hill is an insured and registered clinical nutritionist, a full member of the Nutritional Therapists Of Ireland (NTOI).
